Pamela Portin Bio
Pamela is a veteran technology executive with experience creating and executing strategic integrated marketing plans, communication outreach initiatives, public policy development and national and international event management incorporating Internet, digital media, wireless/mobile telecommunications, gaming and broadband technologies.
She is Principal of Pamela Portin Consulting, a consultancy firm creating and executing strategic integrated marketing, policy and public relations initiatives for the consumer technology marketplace. She has collaborated with global corporate leaders, Internet start-ups, governments and non-profit organizations driving technology innovation and content with consumer and organization audiences. She has created content programming concepts for television audiences in China, contributed to online safety policy discussion in the EU, and promoted computing features for the world’s aging population.
Previously, Pamela worked for Microsoft for over 10 years, leading the first global Microsoft Network (MSN) policy, privacy and Internet safety initiatives. As an online security and Internet safety expert, she drove standards and practices and process development across the global MSN network, Microsoft product groups, including Xbox, MSN and Windows, and with entertainment content creators. Pamela created and led private/public global and national outreach tours promoting online safety, privacy and security, collaborating with leading organizations including the FTC, International Center for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC), Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Best Buy, Interpol and U.S. Department of Commerce.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Pamela was Director External Affairs at U S Airwaves a start-up bidding for FCC licensed spectrum. She collaborated with investors Kleiner Perkins and MCI, and filed regulatory bids with the FCC. Pamela also led media efforts with industry and national media. Pamela began her career at U S WEST in leadership positions representing the Company with a variety of public policy and industry organizations on national, state and local government levels.
Pamela works with the Microsoft Alumni Foundation as the MarComm Chair leading media initiatives, helping to drive the Foundation’s press and digital media promoting non-profit organizations led by Microsoft Alumni, around the world.
She earned an M.B.A. from City University in Seattle, Washington and a B.A. in Political Science from Montclair State University, with additional studies at Harvard University and Coventry University, UK.
